The Weekly Pool Settings is accessible through Pool Menu: Change Pool Settings: New Settings or :A Previous Week's Settings.
Both New Settings and A Previous Week's Settings bring up the same window. New Settings indicates the range of weeks for the setting changes. The range is always for the next week (the week following the last week with scores entered) through week 25. In the above example, the pool is now in week 12. At the beginning of the pool, the range of weeks would be 1-25.
For A Previous Week's Settings, the Week # and the week you have chosen will be used instead of a range of weeks. Changes will affect only that week.
Mac QB treats each week's pool as a separate pool and, using the settings you've entered for that week, archives (that is, closes the book on) each week's pool when all the scores have been entered for that week. You can still view or print the Master Sheet or view the Week's Pool Results for any archived week.
You could have different settings for each week for a total of 25 different pool types. However, in practice you will probably stay with the same settings throughout the season.
When you choose New Settings, the settings you enter will apply for the full range of remaining weeks. This is done so the settings carry over from one week to the next without your having to reset them each week. However, you can change them again at any time during the season.

Pool Parameters:
Pool Title and Sub-Title:
Both the Pool Title and Sub-Title are used for headings on the Entry Form and the Master Sheets, first the Pool Title and then below that the Sub-Title. Your choice for a Pool Title does not affect the name of your Pool File.
Pool Templates:
There are four basic pool types with each having its own special parameters. However, with other options the total number of pool types exceeds 800! (Is that impressive or what?)
You may change from one pool type to another any time during the seasons. The only exception is the Post Season pool. To access the Post Season pool, you must begin a new file. Notice in the above example, the Post Season button is dimmed because the pool is in the 12th week.
Once you choose OK, the pool template for the pool type you have selected will appear. The four templates are covered in the next chapters.
Weekly Accounting:
If you change any of the accounting options during the season, only the current and future weeks will be affected.
Weekly Pool Fee:
This is the entry fee for each week's pool. Mac QB uses this to calculate each week's pool value, the amount that goes to the Manager, etc..
% to Manager:
Note: Throughout Mac QB, any entry calling for a percentage can be changed to a specific dollar amount by preceding your entry with the $ sign.
You need some remuneration for your time, effort, and expenses. Players do not consider it unreasonable for there to be a manager's fee. After all, there wouldn't be a pool without your efforts. The manager's fee should be included in the Rules Sheet (See Example Documents) so the players know the percentage that will be deducted from the winnings in each week's pool.
The customary fee is 10%. However, if you know that will not cover your costs, adjust it accordingly. If you wish to enter a specific dollar amount, precede your entry with the $ sign.
Deduct from Each Entry Fee: (Instead of Total of All Fees)
If this box is checked, the Manager's fee will be deducted from each entry fee. In the above example the Manager's fee is $.50 and this box is checked which means the manager will receive 50 cents from each player. If this box had not been checked, the manager would receive only $.50 from the entire pool.
% to Season Winner Pot:
To increase interest in the Player Standings (their season won-lost record) and to entice players to play each week, you can deduct a percentage or a specified amount from each week's pool and award it to the player with the best season won-lost record. In the example above, the manger has specified 10% from the total of all fees for the season winner pot.
Deduct from Each Entry Fee:
If you want to deduct a specific dollar amount from each player's entry fee, enter $ and the amount in the % to Season Winner Pot and check this box.
Pool Winners:
For 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, you may enter all percentage figures, all specific dollar amounts, and a combination of both percentage and dollar amounts. If you want only a first place winner, assign the amount to 1st place and leave the other two blank or set to 0. And, if you want only a first and second place winner, leave the 3rd place blank or set to 0. If percentage is included, the total percentage must equal 100.
If you enter only specific dollar amounts, the amounts will be awarded to the players regardless of the size of the pool. Any money leftover will go to the Season Winners pot, regardless of the settings you've entered for the % to Season Winners Pot.
In the above example, 100% is given to the 1st place winner, $25 to second, and $10 to 3rd. From the pool balance (amount remaining after the manager fee and season winner pot amounts have been deducted), Mac QB will deduct $25 for second, $10 for third, and award the remainder to the first place winner. Whenever dollar amounts are included with percentage amounts, the dollar amounts are deducted and then the percentages are applied to the balance.
Ties are handled in the follow manner: If two players tie for first place, then they split the total winning for first and second place winners. If three or more are tied, they split the entire pot. If there is a single first place winner but ties for second, then the amount for second and third is divided among the tied players.
If you pool contains the tie-breaker option, the tie-breaker is applied to ties. The loser of a tie-breaker for first place becomes the second place winner and the loser of a tie-breaker for second place becomes the third place winner.
